How to combine urban growth and sustainable development? How to promote ecological transport systems in a context of rapid population growth? How to develop effective governance measures in a context of budgetary restrictions? Smart City Expo &World Congress is an essential event to respond to all these questions and to study the concept of smart cities in depth. This unique congress will bring together prestigious keynote speakers, who will analyse practical cases of smart cities.
The list of speakers at the congress includes Anthony Townsend, Director of Research at the Institute for the Future; David Bragdon, Director of the New York City Mayor's Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability; Nicola Villa, Global Director of Urban Innovation of Cisco's Internet Business Solutions Group; Anne Altman, General Manager, Public Sector, IBM; and Carlo Ratti, Director of the SENSEable City Lab, MIT.
In addition to the conferences, the show will also have an exhibition area, in which innovative companies, cities and institutions will be able to show their leading projects, solutions and products. Smart City Expo &World Congress already has the support of the companies, such as Indra, Agbar, IBM, Ferrovial, Gas Natural Fenosa, Siemens, and Telefónica, among others.
The show will be held in Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via exhibition centre from the 29th November to 2nd December 2011 and will coincide in dates with the second edition of the railway industry event, BcnRail.
